During constellations, death often shows up in the field. At first, it made me feel anxious and sometimes terrified. Over time, I saw her majestic, steadfast, dignified, gracious, magnetic and… favorable to life. Yes, death supports life. Death is in the service of life. Life loses its flavor when the prospect of death disappears.
It is not death that is terrifying, but its unpredictability… Time, circumstances, the prospect of suffering. The mind doesn’t like it, emotions are raging, fear, anxiety, terror.
It is not death that scares us, but the dying that precedes it. If associated with physical and emotional pain.
It’s not death that scares, but life. Challenges, difficulties, toil, struggle, suffering of loved ones, judgment of other people, exclusion. Living in fear, I choose dying. Dying while living.
It is not death that scares, but suffering when we remain with the hole in our hearts left by those who have passed away. The constellations show how we can follow them by not consenting to their death. We then choose dying instead of living. ‘I follow you’.
When we choose dying instead of living, we entangle those around us with our movement towards death. Most often, our children jump with the lifeline. ‘Instead of you, Mom/Dad’. Then two of us die.
Death may appear as a solution to dying when it becomes unbearable. Take away your right to life. This taking away does not take place at the moment of death, death is the culminating point here, an act of grace. I give my life when I choose to die, because I cannot choose death. I don’t decide, I don’t deal these cards.
When do I give my life? When, for example, I devote them to others, when I live the affairs of others before my own, when I choose what harms me, when I allow others to decide for me what I am allowed and what I am not allowed to do, when I choose anxiety and fear of the judgment of others. Exclude yourself, surrender yourself, choose dying.
Dying is disorder, death is the order of life. This is my experience.
